East Palo Alto Center for Community Media
EPACCM’s Mission
The East Palo Alto Center for Community Media (EPACCM) was created in 2003. The center exists to further the vision of an East Palo Alto that is informed, connected, involved, secure and empowered. The EPA Center is committed to providing the residents of East Palo Alto and the Belle Haven section of Menlo Park with up-to-date news and information affecting their communities.
As a hub of communications, the EPA Center created three media outlets -- East Palo Alto Today, East Palo Alto's first locally produced and continuously published newspaper in more than 20 years; a news website and the Talking with Henrietta television show -- to meet the media needs of the residents of these two communities.
The EPA Center uses video streaming and web postings to supplement its printed news coverage. By linking media sources in this way, the center delivers needed and relevant information to community residents in a focused and comprehensive way.
The media outlets that the center created currently provide community news and information to area residents in ways that no other media sources have in the past. Please browse our web site to learn more about the EPA Center, its media outlets and some of its exciting projects. See what you can do to Keep Community Media Alive!
A New Look
The East Palo Alto Center for Community Media (EPACCM) is one of the two non-profit organizations that have selected my design for a fresh new logo. The new logo is very reminiscent of the original logo featuring high resolution vector shapes to represent the East Palo Alto area, Highway 101 & a modernized TypeFace. The preferred color scheme of Maroon & Gold to give a sense of unity and change for the future.
Talking with Henrietta
The East Palo Alto Center for Community Media supports the biweekly Talking with Henrietta television show which is produced at the Midpeninsula Community Media Center in Palo Alto.
The show provides community television programming which discusses local as well as national issues.

Stop The Hate CA
In response to the visible rise in anti-Asian hate, both locally and nationally, the California State Legislature passed a historic $165.5 million API Equity Budget in 2021 to address the rise in hate against Asian and Pacific Islander Californians. Of those funds, California Government Code Section 8260 authorizes the California Department of Social Services (CDSS), in consultation with the Commission on Asian and Pacific Islander American affairs (CAPIAA), to administer $110 million, allocated over three years, to community organizations providing direct services to victims of hate and their families, and prevention and intervention services to tackle hate in our communities.
This is the Stop the Hate Program, funding organizations with boots on the ground, to stem the rising tide of hate.
Stop The Hate EPACCM
In addition to the EPACCM (East Palo Alto Center for Community Media) project, our cohort was tasked with recreating a logo and brand identity for the Stop The Hate movement. I am proud to say that my design was chosen to represent the cause and will be recognized in the community of East Palo Alto. My idea of the design was to have a logo that could be used universally. I wanted the logo to be built consisting of organic objects distorted into the shape of a stop sign while being clear enough to read STOP THE HATE.

Stop The Hate - Art Exhibtion
The EPA Today Art Exhibit aims to give visibility to the diversity of perspective and lived experiences of the East Palo Alto and Belle Haven communities. In addition, we hope to foster opportunity and connection for young artists in the area. Under no circumstances will EPA Today own copyright to art submitted. This is a platform to share local art and talent.
